HELP!!! Force feed???
I adopted six normal ball pythons in April 2008. They were placed into quarantine and I quickly discovered that two of them had mites. They were all in horrible shape and they looked like they could all use some healthy sheds. I'm happy to say that they all look better now (I'm so glad I invested in a Helix, flex watt and misting system). But all have lost a considerable amount of weight. They were averaging 1400 grams and now they are running around 1000. Three have eaten (live mice). However, three still refuse to eat. Is there a way I can force feed these girls? I am so worried about them. I've tried rats & mice. Scented. Live. Frozen/thawed. The "rat/mouse" zombie dance. I'm losing my mind.

If you have "rescued" them, have you not taken them to the vet for proper analysis??

Re: HELP!!! Force feed???
Yes I have. And I was told the same old, "Well these guys are known to fast for quite a while" BS...I live in the effing COUNTRY the closest vet that takes snakes is two hours away and obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. Thanks for being cynical though.

Cynicism only due to the lack of facts provided.

Re: HELP!!! Force feed???
What are you housing each of these rescues in? Can you post some pictures so we can help you determine if there can be any improvements made on their housing?
If you haven't read our caresheet on BP's here yet, please check it out - specifically "Why won't my snake eat" and see if you've eliminated all the variables we have listed.
With the very limited information you've shared, it's going to be difficult for any of us to help you without asking further questions.

Re: HELP!!! Force feed???
What is the history on those, imports that ended up in a pet store, something else???
A fecal is definitely something that should be done.

Fecal was done. Clear. They are housed in my rack system. I will try to post pics later. And I will check out that thread you mentioned. Going to go watch the convention now!
