    Re: hatchling, asf question

and what exactly would you do if it refused the first offering? husbandry is by the book. small tub, small hide, 82 on cold side, 90 on hot side. With a hatchling that has had no more then one or two meals before you got it would you wait a whole week before trying again, or just a few days? the hopper ASF's are harmless. should I just drop it in the tub the next attempt then check the tub the next morning?

thanks for you help... new to the whole hatchling thing....

If you just got your BP give him a week than you can try a hopper ASF, if he refuses wait another week before offering.

If you use a hopper ASF you can leave it overnight.

I got 2 "hatchlings", one was born 8/5 amd still had some shed on it (guessing it was her first shed). Tried feeding her an ASF last night and refused, left it in her tub for an hour and nothing. The cinnamon was born late July and snagged hers right up. Tried the Mojave again today and she tagged it within 5 minutes.

I usually wait a week before I try and feed a new arrival but figured what the heck. Drop the hopper in and leave over night, if it doesnt eat than try again in a week.

So you would wait a whole week in between attempts with a hatchling? I just assumed that is a long time to wait for a hatchling...

I personally would wait a week before trying again, I have had success that way, you can also pre-scent the cage a little while (15-20 min.) prior to attempting to feed.
