Trying to get a CITES Permit...little confused

Ok, I live in Canada and I'm trying to get a CITES permit. I've been exchanging emails with them and I'm a bit confused. I've got the right form printed out according to them, but when I read the form it seems likes it's only a 1 time use thing. And also it seems like theres alot on the form that doesn't really apply to me. And finally, I thought that it cost alot of money, but in one of the emails they sent me, they said it's free, is that right?

I know that's really confusing, but if there's any canadians out there that have been through the process, it'd be great if you could walk me through how you did it.

Some of the breeders do the paperwork for you.

I believe that Adam, and possibly NERD do. Not sure about the others.

Aleesha, AKA Recycling Goddess has dealt with it VIA Adam (8Ball). She may chime in.

The paperwork is a one-time thing, if it expires then you have to start over. Good to plan when there isn't going to be a shipping embargo (Xmas and certain points in the winter depending on temps).

So check with ACanada, etc. prior to planning this.

If I am not mistaken the paperwork is 100.00 and is good for 6 snakes.

I want to know what forms I need to fill out, to be able to legally transport Python Regius across the Canada-United States Border.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Mr. Williams,

You will need to fill in an Export permit appliction for animal (Import, Export, Re-Export animal, part or product)
There is our web site to get a form. www.cites.ec.gc.ca click on permit, click on applications forms, click on animal forms (Import, Export, Re-Export animal, part or product).

    For further information, contact me.

    Thanks

Hi, thank you for that info. I've printed off that form and begun completeing it. However, I am confused because it seems like this form is a "one time use only" type of thing. I want a permit that allows me to cross the border with many specimens of python regius, and be able to order many specimens online from the US, multiple times in a year. Will this form allow me to do that? Also, which sections of the form do I need to fill out for Python Regius, because it seems like many of the sections are not applicable. And one more thing, how much does this cost, and how do you pay for it?

    Thank You

    Peter Williams

And were exactly do I mention that it is for multiple shipments? And you didn't answer my other questions, which sections do I have to fill out, because alot of them seem to not be applicable to my situation. And how much does it cost and how do you pay for it?

    ------------------------------------------------------

    Hello,

Fill in Section 3-D for Multiple Use,
At the moment no cost for the permit.

    Thanks

Re: Trying to get a CITES Permit...little confused

You need an Export Permit on one end and an import permit on the other end. The best help would be to talk to roy stockwell or check out the reptiles canada shipping/import forum:
    http://www.reptilescanada.com/forums...splay.php?f=76

Hope that helps.. if the mods take down that url I will pm it to you if needed.
