Allright, i will explain you why a pastel is a pastel...
A pastel is a polygenetic morph, it isn't really a morph like we know for example hypo (co-dominant.) or anery (recessive.)....
A pastel can be born from even intergrade boas, before you can name a boa a pastel- boa the animal has to have a clean background between the sadles, less melanin and more pink on the sides with fading side drawings....
There are a few pastel lines witch will confuse you even more because these are co-dominant, or not yet proven co-dominant... But a regular pastel can be born from almost any breeding... Pastels are mostly used to clean up and improve the morphs, so you can see it as an animal witch would be the perfect flesh blood for youre breeding projects, or just as a beauty witch is fun too look at ofcourse if you do not have any breeding plans for the future 
And if i'm wrong you may correct me ofcourse
