Sometimes things just don't go right - graphic

I had an egg that I was a little worried about -- at the 30 day mark when I candled the clutch I could see all the snakes sitting in their eggs except one. Candled at day 40 there were beautiful little babies with complete patterns just waiting to be born -- except the one. At day 50 and still no real signs of a snake -- I decided the egg was probably bad and decided to cut - I saw a really underdeveloped snake and I could see it's heart outside of it's chest beating. It was really sad -- but inside the egg it was hard to tell the severity of the deformity -- so at day 52 I decided to pull the snake out of the egg and found this:

The poor dude died shorty after pulling him out of the egg.

Rest of the babies are doing great -- sometimes things just don't go right.

I'd had a similar problem with an egg from a WC girl -- but this one was from a CBB girl.

    oh wow... im so sorry!!

Is the frequency of these type of outcomes getting more frequent or are people sharing more often?? It seems like we had alot more this year compared to last year.

    Ew.
I'm sorry about that one and really sorry that you had to deal with it. Very hard. What a drag; though every time one breeds any animal they MUST prepare for and take on the responsibility when things don't turn out perfectly.
Kudos to you for being responsible and also for sharing~ you're good.

Vey sorry to hear the bad news
I checked on some eggs last night and they have been perfect for a month and one just turned yellow and moldy seems like overnight.

The reality is animals reproduce in high #'s because the majority will never make it, some not even past the egg stage. It is sad but inevitable.

Hope the rest of your clutch is rockin!

I think people are just sharing more often. It happens more often then you would think. Thanks for posting the pics Tosha, I think it's important to share the bad with the good. It makes for a more complete learning experience.

That's so sad to hear. I'm truly sorry about your loss. I know you must have been terribly disappointed to say the least.

It is honestly amazing and humbling to see something like this, though. It really makes you take a second look at life, and stop to appreciate the complexities of nature. Or at least, for me it does.

Best of luck with the remaining babies.

That's such a shame. At least the rest are healthy, hopefully?
