i don't see any problems besides a increased feeding response from your snakes due to the mice smell that will be around

I have always done it no choice. But I have seen other peoples snakes get very excited when they bring rats into the room. Mine just seem to be more relaxed. Maybe they are just used to it.

Wouldn't want my guys smelling mice all the time. Might increase aggression when trying to handle them and could decrease feeding responses.

Ever since I started breeding asf's in the same room as my snake the snakes havnt missed a meal. None of them have struck at me and everything seems fine.

Re: breeding mice in same room as snake?
I've done it before and now that I get my rodents from a local guy, generally get enough for two feedings and feed my first, then keep the second in the room until their next feedings. All of my snakes eat every week, and generally snatch up the rodent the second it hits the floor. The only thing I have noticed is whenever I open the tub they are immediately in "feed mode" but as long as I pull their tubs completely out of the rack before trying to remove them if they're like that then they're fine.

Re: breeding mice in same room as snake?
My rats, mice and ASFs are about ten feet from my racks... no problems at all.
I walk past the rodents while handling... when I feed I put the feeder tub in front of the rack, go pour a coffee and by the time I come back everyone is lurking and ready to eat.
I think it is all relative to what they are used to. A rat 10 feet away all the time is normal, then a rat 12 inches away means feeding time.

Re: breeding mice in same room as snake?
I have mice breeding in the snake room. Only problem I have had is forgetting to wash my hands after messing with the mice. I had a baby wrap my finger cause she thought I was food. LOL....
It was not a defenseive strike, believe me. She got me good and did not want to let go...
