    What temp to go by?

Ive got the incubator set at 89.0F. The accurite with the probe reads 85.5F I also got a thermometer in the egg box. Should I go by the temp reading in the egg box or the temp reading off the accurite with the probe attached to the heat tape? Also should I up the temp on the herpstat?

Re: What temp to go by?

Don't up the temp on the thermostat, just trust the Herpstat temp and try not to worry too much. Accurites (in spite of what the name might lead you to believe) are not the most accurate. It's not uncommon for them to be off by 3 degrees or more. Even the probe and temp. sensor in the unit are often by several tenths if not more.

Just make sure that the Herpstat probe is close to the egg box (on the outside) to give an accurate reading of the incubator air temp.

Sometimes I will put 3 accurites in there and it never fails 1 is off. I also use a herpstat too and they are extremely accurate. I like to put the probe right it the egg box not touching medium but just sticking in air of box.

I have the same problem my Johnson control is set at 89 and my acurrite goes from 85.3 to 90.4. So I got to trust the Johnson.
