    I have eggs!!!!!!!

    Hi,

Cleo laid her clutch earlier this afternoon.

I had just pulled an all nighter and checked before heading to bed - I had to close the tub and re-open it just to make sure.

I completely forgot to take pictures of her wrapped around them though.

She was only a little feisty when I took her off but there were a couple of attempted strikes - luckily I strike feed from my fingers most of the time so have had previous dodge training.

What was even scarier is my earlier experiments in palpataion were bang on the money of six eggs and one slug.

She was the most co-operative of all my girls when trying it so I could feel the BUMP...BUMP....BUMP....bump....BUMP.

Cant feel a blessed thing in my big girl as she just tenses up and can't decide on the final count in the little girl yet.

I managed to seperate the eggs fairly easily and the new mini-maglite showed a lovely pink colour and healthy veins in the six good eggs.

Incidently I had been using an LED torch before getting this and it definately made the eggs look yellower during candling - I assume it has a bluer cast or something.

    I did manage to remember to grab a quick snap while cleaning the cage/ setting the eggs up;

Wierdly I seem to remember Natasha's being physically larger but weighing less.

I'm planning on incubating at 88f to give myself a little safety margin - does that change the averadge time before they pip much?

The poor girl looks so deflated.

I washed out the tub, water bowl, changed the substrate and then washed Cleo herself and put her back in.

Her hides are being cleaned at the moment so she is a little active - I left a rat in with her but she didn't seem intrested earlier.

    Have I missed anything?

And I would like to thank Robin for answering so quickly and keeping me from running around like a headless chicken.

    **edit**

    Should have rotated the pic.

    **end edit**

Awwwww soon to be a daddy.

Good thing those babies won't mind you pulling all nighters.

Congrats. The first time is always the biggest burst of coolness but they all feel good. I'm glad you finally got some down.

Sounds like you got it! Congrats on the eggs.

I usually wait a couple days before I offer food, but no big deal. (cause I've got all of 2 seasons/clutches under my belt)

    Re: I have eggs!!!!!!!

    Thanks guys,

I did breed once before but it was a stupid unplanned act of me doubling up during cage cleaning and then thinking it was a good idea.

This time I actually planned it in advance once I had sorted out the problems caused by me being a doofus when I first joined the site.

Is it too early to admit I went and bought curved cuticle scissors specially last week?

    Oh yeah,

I am sooooo good at waiting. [/blatant falsehood]

The daddy will be my scar covered survivor Herman.

Until I got the lesser Herman was the only male I owned and I think Elam is a little young to be entered in the lists of love (he just shed at 227g ).
