    half albino

I was just on the CV exotics website and they have a slideshow on their home page and one of the pictures is labeled "Half Albino". Anyone know how this works genetically?

    Re: half albino

It looks like it is a het albino to me.

I wonder if they are saying half albino in reference to its genetics and off spring it can produce? Such as it can produce a half albino clutch?

The "half albino" seems to be a paradox albino, nice snakes

Just checked out there site, they call it calico.... It is the same in my eyes, both names are used, even three tone albino is used for this type of snakes. The genetics are still unproven, somebody in the netherlands produced some paradox coral albino from a coral x het. coral litter, they produced several paradoxes in several breeding between the same parents over the years, i know they are gonna try to prove there genetics also.... Would be great if they are proven to be ressecive....

Paradox's seem to be one of those genes that just "pop" up from time to time. I don't think it's "genetic" in the terms of recessive or co-dom traits.

I'm also not a beleiver, only some cases make you think otherwise... I know some cases of several breedings between same parents and eatch year some paradoxes pop out of them... And the weird thing about this is that the parents of these snakes had the same thing going on, several paradoxes bred by this family so far... Normally they don't pop up as often was my guess, so if there is something special going on or not.. i have to see, if so i wan't some paradox too ofcourse

the most chance for paradox is to breed an albino to an het. albino, so my guesses are the het. albino has something going on, maybe some incomplete allels in the genotype...

    Kevin

ha, and I was just beginning to understand genetics too. This stuff is really complex. At least it's a beautiful snake, haha.
