    help .

So I was feeding my bp last night and dropped the mouse (thawed frozen) Well usually I just leave it and he will pick it up and eat it . Last night he went for the tail instead of the head like he normally does . Some how his fang got caught in his lower jaw . He fought for about two mins . I had to help him so I took the plastic tongs and tried helping him pull open the stuck side . Finally he attempted to bite the tongs and came unstuck .

I am now scared . Has this ever happened to your snake ? Could it get infect ?

Mmmm he doesn't really have... fangs... per say.... They are very, very tiny teeth. I would definitely not recommend you every try inserting tongs into his mouth again if something like that happened though. It could get worse. How long did this go on for? If it hadn't resolved itself in a reasonable amount of time I would have gone to the vet. I'm wondering if his jaw may have gotten stuck awkwardly?? They usually yawn to adjust everything back to normal from all the stretching after they eat. I haven't heard of a snake getting it's own teeth stuck in its mouth, tho... I don't really know, I'm just guessing to be honest about the jaw theory. Is there a lesion in your snake's mouth? Maybe you should take it to the vet?

Oh I dont have a pic . He is unstuck . I though he was trying to spit out a peice of the bark at first . I just want to know if this has ever happened to any one else . Also if there is a chance for infection . If so what I should look for .

Went on for about three mins or so . He tried yawning but it almost looked like one side of his mouth was glued shut . He kept trying to open his mouth and rubbing his head on things . I didn't really pry his mouth open , mostly rubbing the side that was stuck with the tip . I didn't get to look in his mouth since after he unstuck it he went right to the food and ate then went to his hide . He is as active as he usually is though .

How long have you had him? Are you comfortable having a little look inside to see if he hurt himself or have you not opened his mouth before?

OK... well you might not want to if you haven't before... There's people here with a lot more experience than me but it's 12:30 on a Friday. I think he might have had his jaw stuck or like you said, just caught himself. I would keep a close eye on him.
