    Question Splinters???

This might sound stupid but do snakes get splinters like we do? I bought my Royal 3wks ago and have him on Beech wood chip as this is what they have had him on in the pet shop. He's now in shed and is rubbing himself all over the sustrate and I've only just noticed how sharp some the chips are. I'm I being a neurotic first time mum wanting to dive in and remove it all????

    Thanks

    Re: Splinters???

Interesting question, but I've never heard of a snake getting a splinter before. Their scales are pretty tough and grow in such a way that whatever they move over scrapes away from them.

I wouldn't be too worried about the substrate, but if it's bugging you it might be worth it to switch for your own piece of mind.

    They kinda do, I guess?
My ball python once had a small splinter right in her nose, I tried to pull it out with a tweezer, but it broke off.
And then she went in shed, and it was gone.
