Question Python sight, red light ?

    Hi,

I was wondering if the BP can see red light ?
I was told that it is not possible for them, and I just wanted a confirmation because I would love to watch them wandering at night as they become much more active.

    Thanks

try the black lights that are available. I really like those, they seem to be darker than the red lights but still provide great viewing.

I also use the black lights gives you a GREAT view and they stay really active. Specialy when hungry they are all over the place! I have a Ceramic heat emitter on all the time and a timmer which swiches the night on and the day off at 9pm. It is by Zila and is the CONTROLLER POWER CENTER DIGITAL 1875WATT. Hope ant of this helps.- Ray

I was told snakes see more colors than we do. I have no idea though, I know I use an infrared and it seems to be okay.

Do the black lights give off heat?
Or are they just for viewing?

Re: Python sight, red light ?

Thanks for all your answers, I think I'll definitely get a black light.

But, just like Venom, I'd like to know if it provides heat too ?
Because I have UTH that works fine by itself, and I don't need more heat.

It puts off very little heat. My cool side in the day is about 80-82 and at night it might get to 85 -86 still fine for a b.p. Hope this helps??-Ray

Blue 'moon' and black lights are much better than red. Less harsh.

And as far as heat output goes, just adjust the height of the fixture above your tank to lessen the amount of heat that gets to it. I like to hang lights at least 8" above a tank. Also helps with getting in and out of the tank, not having to move a light all the time.
