Is it possible to give a person a rep point for something they sent you in a PM?

If not, would it be acceptable to find a post of theirs and give them the point there, even though it was the PM that you felt was really deserving?

Not for a PM, no. Although I think there is a way to make that a possibility. Let me look into it.
