I'm sooo excited!

Several weeks ago, I tried to offer Foster a small rat since the large adult mice were not really doing anything for her but she wouldn't have it. Im not sure if the fact that they were hooded made a difference but I assumed so. Or, maybe that it was just because it was a rat and not a mouse.

She was also not interested in eating sooner than 7 days so I offered her smaller mice (19 grams compared to the usualy 25ish grams she was getting). The first small one I offered was after 7 days and she nailed it as I expected her to. Then after 5 days, I offered her another one and WHAM she took it! Im guessing because the 19g mouse 5 days earlier wasn't enough and she was still wanting more. The following week, I offered her two of the 19g mice and she took both of them! HORRAY! Well, it's been just over a week since her last feeding so I thought I would see if she would take the small hooded rat that I have. I figured she would be afraid of it since it wasn't all white like the rest. We pres-scented the tank first and then my son offered it to her. At first she wasn't interested but I realized that he didn't heat up the head so I told him to hit it with the hair dryer, which he did. No sooner did he lower the rat into the tank and she nailed it like never before! After a few minutes there was no sign of the rat at all!

I am a bit worried and the reason is that the rat was a bit big weight wise but not girth wise! The rat was 52 grams but a tad bit smaller than her girth. Is there anything that I should be concerned with? Will messing with her feeding schedule/prey offerings cause any problems? Not that we can do anything about it now but thought I would ask! Everything else is on target...temps, humidity, husbandry, etc. And I've not seen her out of her hide in forever unless we take her out to handle her so I doubt that she is stressed. She seems like a happy little ball!
