hatchlings: when to feed?

just wondering, do you wait until a hatchling sheds to offer food?

Prior to that first shed they have a belly full of yolk that serves them well....

1 week after their first shed they get offered food.

I tried to rush that a bit and offered about 2 days after their first shed. No go. Waited the week and bingo, most of them gobbled down their first meal.
