I just bought my first two snakes on Sunday (JCP and Greyband Kingsnake) and my JCP is completely ignoring her entire enclosure with the exception of a single hanging plant.

I'm not overly concerned, I know that new snakes hide a lot (she's only six weeks old) and this morning she actually came out of the plant, extended about half her length onto some branches in the enclosure to 'check me out' and then retreated when I topped up her water and misted the tank.

At what point should I be concerned about this? I haven't seen her drink and I am a little concerned that she is right under the IR heat lamp, basically 24/7. I want to give her her first feeding tomorrow (she's already on rats thanks to her excellent breeder) and I have no idea how to feed her hanging from a suction-cupped plant.

Here's a picture of the enclosure:

I have added more plants, and the one she is using is right in the middle under the heat lamp. Ambient tank temp is about 81 (measured on the back wall about 1/3 from the bottom) and the cool and hot side UTHs are at about 83 and 88 respectively. Humidity is always right about 40% so I think my husbandry is good.

I'll try and get a good picture of her soon (she's gorgeous), but I don't want to handle her until Saturday or so.
