Cute little snake I found by the creek :)

I believe it to be a midlands water snake, although I could never get the hang of differentiating between midlands and northern.

I would have guessed Northern, but I don't think we have Midlands here. Very cute, how many times did it get ya?

Was actually pretty calm. When I first saw it (sunbathing on the asphalt bike path) and reached for it, it flattened out and hissed at me a bit but never actually bit me. once I picked it up it was calm as my ball python

And you can't tell as much in the pic, but he had a pretty strong reddish tint to him from above, so I am guessing more midlands than northern (which i find to be more greenish)

    Well it is a water-roaming colubrid. ;]

Very cute snake! I would always want to keep wild snakes.. but I know its a super bad idea.

Yup i used to keep wild corn snakes and black rat snakes but i've decided now to just keep captive bred animals.

Let this little one go again after I snapped a pic
