Dear lord...
A month ago i had a very established colony of mice, around 100. They chewed a hole in their tub and ALL escaped. So, i had a colony of rats that I had just set up and one rat had babys, so I thought im not going to put up with this and killed them all. I go in the barn they were housed in today( along with our dogs, it has heat/ ac/lights so it was the perfect place for them) and there is a LITTER of mice on top of a cage on top of a shirt! I guess I missed a few! they are cute i'll tell you that, makes me miss them a bit I'll get pictures of my now wild mice is a minute, that mom is a smokey colored female All the babys are albinos too. Cant see how I missed them, they are all in the fuzzy stage. What to do with them is now the new question...
And no, these will never be fed off to anything! Well, maybe a wild cat or two. Breeding mice as taken care of itself for I think the first time in bp history!

Re: Dear lord...
Scoop the mice up and if you don't want to breed mice anymore find a pet store that will take them.
If you don't have a use for the mice find a good alternative for them.
And regarding them "being out all night" what if your BP got out all night? Would that immediately imply he was full of vermin and poisons and is now a health risk? Of course not. I wouldn't be feeding any mice that were out all night to your snakes right away, but sheesh, they probably didn't get into anything.

Sonya, you can ask anyone here, if they have an escape that didn't just get out they would also probably not feed it to their snake( I hope). More than likely I will c02 them and throw them out, I do not need a infestation in our dog shed! And yes, they could have gotten into dog poop, walked in dog pee, and any else else our dogs can produce in a night! Im not about to send now wild mice to the petstore either. people could then use them as food and I would not want that. Im sorry if you would want to take that risk, but I was not about to.

I personally wouldn't, nor would I recommend that they be sold to a pet store. Heck, most pet stores won't take back an un-used feeder once it's been offered to their customer's snake to prevent transmission of illnesses. I think Matt did and is doing the right thing.
My collection is far too valuable on a personal level to take such calculated risks. Just my

Re: Dear lord...
Yeah you are right, when i said pet store i was thinking they would be sold as pets.
Though if people are buying feeder mice that are NOT coming from hopefully reputeable breeders, then some of the mice in the cages of small stores probably do have questionable pasts. Little Johnny's pet mice end up with babies and mom takes the babies to the pet store; god only knows what little johnny does with his pets. I had rats as a kid and yes, I took them for walks outside and lost them once or twice before finding them again.
