advice plz-hatchling with umbilical chord hanging out.

ok so just as the title says i have a hatchling with some type of chord hanging out of the area where the yolk absorbs into. it is closing up but the chord is still hanging out. right now i have it in a tub with shallow water inside the incubator. it doesnt look like its going anywhere so how should i deal with this situation?

How big is it and how long ago did it hatch? (picture would help) It could just be the remnants of the yolk sac being absorbed. I just hatched out an albino that had a small pea-sized bulge extruding. I gently pushed it inside and let her rest on a moist paper towel for a couple of days. She's good as new.

Hopefully it's the same situation that you're going through.

Pics always help, I had two with little umbilical cords that just fell off the next day, just kept them on a moist paper towel.

Agreed. Moist paper towel for 24 hours, it should be absorbed by then. It's entirely normal.

Agreed, pictures would help - and I'd take it out of the shallow water and just put it on damp paper towel. It's fine to put it back in the incubator for now.

After looking at the pics, I was going to tell you to do what everyone else said. Then I realized that you said it fell off. I wouldn't say it is common, but I wouldn't say it is rare either. It happens sometimes, and is not really a big deal, as long as the snake isn't dragging it's yolk sac with it.

I had the same thing this year with two. And both were dragging their yolk sac around with them as well. I followed advice given here and moved them to a tub with a moist paper towel for substrate and within a day the cord and yolk sac had fallen off. Both are doing fine now and have already had a couple of meals.
