    rat rack question

    For those of you that breed rats in concrete mixing tubs can your babys reach for the water and food if not do you put them in something different. also if i wanna start breeding rats should i get small rats or bigger ones

    I prefer to start with young rats, it's much easier to tame them that way, and makes handling for changes and babies that much easier.

    We use the gravity fed water system and the sipper valves from RBI. The babies can reach em.

    Yes...yes...and... yes(to small rats)! I had the same question the first time I can babys, and two are still with me By the time the baby rat is ready to eat and drink after they leave their mothers, I find mine climbing upside down on the Hardware cloth to get food and water.

    You can start with older rats, but I wouldn't. For all you know the females could be retired breeders people sell to petstores. If you want you can start off with a few adults, and just make sure that you hold back all the female babys.
