Well Marked vs. Not-So-Well Marked
This is something I've been wondering for awhile. What constitutes a "well marked" Ball from one that's... not so well marked? I'm pretty sure color clarity has something to do with it as well.
I'm new to this - show me two dogs of the same breed and I can point out the "better" dog from a conformation standpoint, but I'll be darned if I can't tell (yet) what makes a Ball Python "better looking" than another.
Thank you for putting up with my novice curiosity.

Plain and simple...
Who's looking at the ball python?
Everyone has their own tastes in regards to what they find favorable. Some like reduced patterns, dark coloration, light coloration, blushing, contrast; its all up to you!

Re: Well Marked vs. Not-So-Well Marked
well i belive it all depends on personal preferance.
also factors like
- clearity
- contrast
- boldness of markings
- size
- wieght
- age
- eye color
- scaring (if there is any)
- nice white stomach
IMO those are what you would look at...
there are more im sure, but when i look for a "good" BP those are what i look at.

I have to agree. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Some people like Brown Backs, Black Backs, Banded, Reduced, Floating Heads, Connected Pattern, Blurry Pattern, Alien Heads, Blushing, No Blushing, High White Sides, Busy Patterns, Busy Bellies, White Bellies, High Gold, High Yellow, Orange, Brown, etc, etc. All of those are traits that people find desirable, among many others.
Personally, I like Reduced Patterns and Brown Backs on normal Ball Pythons. I also like high gold coloration.
IMO, there aren't any "not so well marked" Ball Pythons.
