    High white...

Um, in case you can't read the pics, this is Lotus, the first piebald we've hatched EVER from two het pieds. We beat the odds! Three eggs, two poss hets, and her:

Ever have your family totally NOT understand why you're so flippin' excited? Sigh. My mother just wants to make sure my snakes don't eat the children. My sister tried to be genuinely interested as long as I didn't remove the lid to the container, but my sis-in-law swore she sent the link to my brother and he was impressed.

Then........I was on another (non-herp) board and posted her pic and someone made sure I didn't feed her kittens...she'd heard somewhere that people use Craigslist to find kittens and feed their snakes.

I'm glad I found this board. You don't know how happy I am I found this board. Did I say I like it here? Do you guys understand?

Balls aplenty, but never enough! 0.1 pied, 1.1 het pieds, 1.0 het albino, 0.1 poss het albino, 3.0 black pastels, 2.4 pastels, 1.1 spiders, and a lot of not-so normal mommas with offspring in the incubator.

Dinker baby BP: 1.0 Cactus Jack. Dude's got circles. Grow, baby. Grow.

Haha! I completely get where you're coming from. I took eggs due to hatch with me to NC this past week, and was so excited when they hatched, but no one in my family could understand my excitement.

My brother was the closest to being excited, but he mainly does capture and release of the wild snakes native to NC (he's a photographer, so he keeps them for about 24 hours to photograph then releases).

My mom hates snakes, my dad tries to show interest, but none of them can understand why ANYone would want to buy them! LOL

Oh, and my brother took some pictures of the babies and posted it on jpgmag.com and one person commented "very cool, but very dangerous stuff!"

Congrats on your first pied - she's gorgeous!!!!

Mega congrats. That is a gorgeous snake you have there!

I am not family but I am very excited for you.

As long as... like... you do let that big scary snake eat children and kittens... and NEVER a child holding a kitten.

(not that I am really that fond of either one).

My first and only two encounters with venomous slithers came in NC, Fayetteville area, both with copperheads. Darn near stepped on babies both times, one while walking through pine needles and the other while taking babysitting charges (!) to get soda.

Thanks for the kudos on Lotus. We cut the eggs on Day 53, saw white at both ends, and I think we let a lot of humidity out of the incubator over the next few days. It's made from an old freezer, and I had to laugh every time I heard hub opening it (the hinges squeak) to take a peek and, of course, had to look as often as he did. Twas only fair, right?

Oh, and I have to say, as far as bosses go, my boss is amazing and always wants details! I do transcription and I've never met her, but I've whipped up quick web pages to explain morphs, etc., because she's so interested! I can't believe how fun she's been about it, and the office's overall positive reaction. They apparently find me amusing and pass my links around :

Given the defiance disorders from my three human offspring and the mess I found from our kitty, I'm thinking about buying a Burmese.

Thanks! I just think she's awesome and she hasn't minded being handled at all. It's a good thing, because we can't stop looking at her. It's our first recessive ultra-visual thing.

Thanks. I spent most of the night making pretty pictures with her.

I even sent hub an alternative home page for his site with her as a focus. Now, if he'll use it?
