    Awesome Job Toledo Firefighters!

We had a huge apartment complex fire here in Toledo overnight. Apparently some fireworks got out of hand and started a rooftop blaze which quickly spread to between 8 and 11 of the two story apartment buildings in this complex. My daughter, Kate, actually lived in this complex last year.

All those buildings fully engulfed, all those residents to get out safely and at this point, not one resident is severely injured nor a firefighter badly hurt fighting this massive and complex fire. Having been a fire dispatcher many years ago I can understand how much work that took as well as co-ordinating so many responding fire houses. It's a blessing that no one was killed or badly injured in a fire of this magnitude.

    Great job Toledo Firefighters!

I could not believe the size of this fire. But the guys did great and it is nice knowing that they are there to help.

I'm glad that no one was seriously injured.

I know that as the daughter of a fire fighter of 32 years, I have the utmost respect for those who put their lives on the line for us every single day. That's definitely a job well done!

I never knew your dad was a firefighter, Christie. 32 years on the job, that's an impressive record!

It's also important here to acknowledge the dedication and good work of the Toledo police officers who responded to that scene and I'm sure helped save lives and control the chaos, the Red Cross who very quickly set up a shelter for the victims in a local high school and to TARTA (our local bus system) that sent out buses to transport everyone to the shelter.

Yeah, my grandfather was a career firefighter too. I pretty much grew up in the fire station, and back when they had those poles too! (don't see those too much nowadays) Those were great. *happy sigh*

That's really wonderful that your community came together as a whole to support those who lost so much. It makes you thankful to see that side of people when there is always so much negative.

this is one of my biggest fears as a homeowner. you have some really big morons w/ explosives that fly no less...and they do not put any thought into what consequences may occur from their actions.

hats off to all of those involved for a job well done and preventing many lost lives!

Personally, I am not a fan of fireworks unless it's professionally done...for this reason alone!
