    And sometimes they EAT...

We learned last year that Cleo can hold out, but she stayed healthy and seemed just fine...so we learned to not worry about her and feed her when she's hungry.

She usually now S'es up, literally shuddering with excitement, telling us "why yes, you may feed me now"...but has seemed to have a preference for live, albino mice...

Yes, your majesty, your wish is my command!

    ***
Yesterday, she was bouncing away, "feed me, feed me!", so I gave her 3 mice, one more than she usually takes, so yay!

Today, she was bouncing away AGAIN. I told her that she ate all the ROUSes (rodents of usual size) as the 1st heat wave in May wiped out my grow outs and the one mice litter on the ground hasn't even weaned out.

    "BUT I'M HUNGRY MOMMY!"
    "Well...would you like a rat?"

Cleo hasn't eaten a rat in I can't remember when.

    "um...OKAY!"

So I go get her the smallest light colored rat I could find in the rat grow out tubs...

    WHAM!

    Yeah...guess she's hungry.

    Re: And sometimes they EAT...

Cassandra I'm so glad you posted this thread! I was thinking of taking the same approach with my BP and offer a meal only when he seems hungry. There is a difference in behavior he has when he eats as to when he doesn't and I've been curious of late if the 7-10 day feeding schedule routine just doesn't suit my snake.

    Re: And sometimes they EAT...

Thanks guys. =) I certainly don't have much experience, but from what I've read, as long as the animal appears healthy and doesn't drop major weight, they'll eat when they're hungry. =)

She was bouncing away AGAIN last night...we think her body must have kicked in high FEED MEH! gear for summer, hehe...
