    Wrinkles, Wrinkles and Wrinkles...

So, I'm reposting my concern about my boy's wrinkles. I changed the entire vivarium over today and it would seem I had been overmisting. I replaced the infrared lamp with a UTH and temps and humidity are perfect (they were before too, but the lamp tended to drop the humidity too quickly, thus the misting).

Does anyone know if wrinkly skin is a sign of a shed? The wrinkles are girthwise, not lengthwise (as is apparantly the sign of dehydration). He's 4 months old. I've had him over a month and he still hasn't shed.

Any more help would be appreciated.

    Re: Wrinkles, Wrinkles and Wrinkles...

The one shed I have experienced with my BP, he did have kinda wrinkly skin, but that might of been caused by dehydration since he was in shed when I got him. But it was only on his neck for the most part.

Ill check on mine later and let you know if see any wrinkly skin.

Also is it wrinkly over the whole body? or just in areas?

    Re: Wrinkles, Wrinkles and Wrinkles...

I can't post any pics cause my camera is in repair (and webcams take HORRIBLE pictures).

He's been a REALLY good eater and everything. Temps are 90-92 and 80-82 with a humidity of 50-70%. I may have been 'over-misting the tank' for awhile cause I was using a lamp that seemed to sap the humidity.

Anyways, his skin is wrinkly when he turns his body. It's much more apparant around the neck but it's on most of his body (even on his head). I have heard that dehydration causes lengthwise wrinkles and that girthwise wrinkles are a sign of a shed? (possibly a tough shed; He's 4 months and I've had him for over a month now and he hasn't shed yet).

I've just introduced a humid hide as well, which he is spending a lot of time in...

None of mine get wrinkly during shed. The only time I've personally seen wrinkly is when a snake did not successfully shed and its skin was too dry - essentially - stuck shed.

My bp just went through a bad shed and I also noticed girthwise wrinkles on him before he shed. Sounds like the same thing you are seeing. More apparent when we turns and all over. Now that he has shed they are all gone.

my little guy just went through our first shed together, and i noticed some wrinkling in his neck a day or so before we found the skin in the enclosure. Everything seems to be fine with us so far....

my young ball gets wrinkles around her neck for a week or so before shedding no matter how high the humidity is. It goes away after she eats and sheds everytime
