I just finished helping out with my son's cub scout twilight camp. (it's a week long camp from 4pm - 9pm)
I have to say that I have really enjoyed the cub scouts. My son really gets a very diverse education from archery/bb guns to marbles and to science. Not to mention it's one of the of the few places where my snakes do not completely freak everyone out. In fact, I am planning on doing a presentation for another boy scout troop in the coming months. We also were able to see the space station one night, and even I thought it was totally cool! Not only do they expose the boys to a wide array of subjects, but they also strongly encourage family participation.
As much as I complained about the heat and the ticks, I really enjoy the group. Everyone there is very dedicated to our boys, and willing to help out wherever possible. I would like to strongly encourage anyone who is thinking about joining to do it!
Now if only I manage to make it through this next bit where they give my 8 year old son a knife!(please oh please let there be no loss of digits
)
