Hellooo and welcome to BP.net
As previously stated, all ball pythons have the spurs. some will be bigger than others...but it's certainly not an indicator of sex. The best and proven methods of sexing ball pythons is by popping or probing, which you should probably seek professional help with
Again, Welcome. Ask any questions you may have

Welcome to the forum!!!!
Looks like a cute snake and I hope your hubby's wrist/hand/fingers have mended
You can't tell the sex of a snake by external measures. All you need to do is pop the cloaca and see. If you don't want to do this, a herp vet can do it for you!

Males and females both have spurs. I hear that a lot at pet shops that you can sex based on spurs, but that's myth
Popping isn't too hard, you might give it a try.

Sorry, my post was redundant!
Check www.8ballpythons.com, go to "journal" He has a popping video on there.
