Dried out pipper! Help

My first pip in my clutch was on the 5th and i slit the egg a bit more and found a pastel. But now its the 7th and the part of his body that isn't sitting in fluid is beginning to dry out. I'm really worried. Should I place a moist paper towel over him or let him sit there? He isn't being very active.

Well, after examining the eggshell a little more, I noticed on the underside of the shell a few slits were made. I came to the conclusion that the egg sitting underneath THIS egg pipped through the bottom and may have cut into the yoke a little. It makes since because the pastels head seems a little premature. Luckily it pipped and didn't drown but I'm really stressing over the health of this hatchling. Fingers crossed.

If the eggs are too dry when a baby pips (or when you manually pip them) just take some water that is 90F and pure it into the egg. This works great and won't harm the baby.

Thanks. I thought about doing this but never heard if anybody ever did it and wasn't sure if it would risk drowning.
