Asf's Or Mice?
Im having great success breeding rats they are great mothers ,my mice on the other hand are bad my first mouse ate all her young, the others seem not progressing well & not even prego yet,was thinking of getting some ASF's because I have some proplem balls that are off feed, also I HAVE SOME LARGE CORNS that love crawler rats & eat jumbo mice with gusto.MICE suck I have tried everything to get them going this is my third attempt & going to give up on mice.also my rats grow so fast they get too big for my pythons I only have two weeks when they are the right size.

Re: Asf's Or Mice?
I have stopped breeding mice and breed only ASF now....they don't really stink, Moms are great and they even seem to have a "babysitting" system....
mice and regular rats really stink....i am enjoying ASF very much....besides, they're cute as a button!

With proper cleaning and bedding my rats don't stink, unless your nose is in the tubs. By. To be on toppic, get the Asfs I wish I could find some. I am sure I will need some.

Re: Asf's Or Mice?
I loathe mice. I find them really hard to manage. And the smell is unbearable. As far as rats, anyone that knows me know I really dig rats. I find them cute, socialable and interesting. Not to mention good parents and hardy producers.
I have started breeding ASFs, I would take them over a mouse anyday.
They are steady producers and do better when left alone. Really a low maintenance producers.
But they are shiftier than mice, in my experience. They dart, are hard to catch, and are aggressive. But I would still take them over mice anyday.
But the smell factor... not even from the same planet as mice. They have a slight smell... but nothing like mice.

Re: Asf's Or Mice?
Mice stink and are often times difficult to breed. This is NOT the case with ASF's.
