    Weight Gain

Does it sound normal that our bp has gained 140 grams in 2 - 3 weeks? Can they go through a growth spurt? She looks like she has gotten bigger but I can't imagine that she has put on 140g in that short of a time. But then again, since I'm afraid of snakes, any growth is too much growth for me! LOL JK...I want nothing but the best for her!

About 2 - 3 weeks ago, she weighed 260 g and yesterday when we put her on the scale she was 400 g! The 260 g wasn't surprising because of a steady weight gain but the 140g jump was very surprising. We turned the scale off and on a few times weighing again and again and each time it read exactly 400g. Could this be a poo problem, the scale going on the fritz, or just a growth spurt? I haven't asked him if he seen any poo...didn't think to but, I'll find out when he gets up this morning. Otherwise she looks healthy and happy!

    So, what's your opinion?

BTW, last week when I got he humid substrate we went to the same store that we bought her from and her cage mate was still there. I would say that her cage mate was almost twice as big as Foster (when we bought her, they were about the same size). They said that they were feeding her large adult mice every three days. Would this be considered power feeding or is Foster still small for her age? We got her this past December and at that time she was just over 100g if I remember correctly. Foster will only eat once every 7 days and won't take more than I prey per feeding.

Am I doing anything wrong (besides not keeping records)? If you need more info, let me know. Maybe I can have Kevin help me with some new pics tomorrow with something to compare his size with.

    Re: Weight Gain

Feeding every three days is def power feeding. In the end, your bp will be healthier, and probably bigger, assuming that the other isnt a female and yours is male. You seem to be doing fine, and that weight gain is normal, I had the same question for my bp just last week. She went from 450 to 560 in 3 weeks. Good luck and keep up the good work.

    Re: Weight Gain

Mine is definately a girl...as for the other still at the pet store...I don't know. But, if I could I would go buy her also because they really don't have a clue what they are doing. They were handing the poor thing just HOURS after feeding her and if that wasn't bad enough, it was by a young boy (4 or 5 years old) who was pulling her out of her coils! GRRR! I did educate them as much as I could and they immediately put her back into her tank so hopefully they will take what I said to heart.

After my post I read some of the older posts and feel almost stupid for asking my question since it was asked by others. I now know that 140g gain in 2 - 3 weeks isn't totally out of the norm. I'll be keeping an eye on her to make sure she is pooping as she should.

I figured they were power feeding the poor thing at the shop, but before saying anything I wanted to make sure. These are the same people who were feeding my Foster 1 pinkie every two weeks when I got her. I guess there is no happy medium with these people.

BTW...I had no intentions of feeding Foster every 3 days. In fact, she won't eat any sooner than 7 days. I want her to be healthy and take a healthy time to get to full size! LOL I'm having a hard enough time with her size she is now. I certainly don't want to get to huge any faster!
