Re: The $4 Cage... or atleast was
Just make sure there is no sharp edges on that wire light cover. Other than that it looks good!
I USED TO EAT ALOT OF NATURAL FOODS UNTIL I LEARNED THAT MOST PEOPLE DIE OF NATURAL CAUSES.

how are you providing belly heat? and are you using the lighting for heat? BP's are nocturnal that lighting wont help at night.

Re: The $4 Cage... or atleast was
Sweet idea! I too am a bit concerned about the light bulb heat. The main reason being that light bulbs are so notorious for sucking out the much needed humidity, not to mention they can get very hot (cage and all), and waste so much energy.
If you were thinking about alternatives to the light bulb, I would check out some flexwattt, and also radient heat panels. You'll find they are simple to control with a good thermostat, and also won't burn your snake. (If used properly anyways)
I would think about it, I'm sure you'll find the humidity a struggle to keep above 50%.
With a good thermostat like a Ranco, Helix, Johnson or others, and a nice bit of flexwatt or radiant heat panel.... you'll have great success!

Re: The $4 Cage... or atleast was
actually its not for my ball... i just had him out when i snapped the pics and he was bugging me so i stuck him in there lol
uh, the light wouldnt be on all the time, its for a BRB, and i have had no trouble keeping humidity up for her... i am going to use cyprus mulch in there, and as said, the light wont be on all the time =]
uh, and all the edges are turned over on itself on the light cage, except on the part that will be screwed to the cage, but we are putting a piece of wood over it. =]

Where exactly does a Ball Python get belly heat from in the wild? Just curious. Why is belly heat required?

I know that you know alot more about BPs than i do but i am wondering to. Because BPs live in rodent burrows underground most of their time and the deeper you go underground the colder it gets. I assume that it is good in captivity because of digesting its prey.
