    Shopping List-Advice

Well, I put together a list of everything I would eventually like to get for my bp, feeders, etc.

    Thermostat
    Flexwatt/UTH
    Tempgun/Accurite
    Hemostats/Tweezers
    Heavier Hides

Right now my bp is in a tub with one UTH on a dimmer. It has been warm enough that I dont think I will need a cool side heat device until the fall, and I would prefer to use flexwatt I think, so a thermostat needs to come first.

The thermostat should probably be the first thing I get, but it is also the most expensive, and I really dont have that kind of money right now since I cant find a summer job. I would prefer to control both cool and warm sides with a thermostat, but a dimmer on the coolside may have to make due. Ideally, I would like a herpstat II or pro, but they are $$$.

Until I get a heat source for the coolside, which probably wont happen until I get the thermostat, another accurite is pointless.

Heavier hides would be nice, but she is going to be growing quickly, and I have a quick fix of putting the driftwood log across her hides to keep them in place, which also creates a little pocket for her underneath/behind that.

Now, to the item that is actually plausible for me to purchase pretty soon. Tweezers or hemostats. Two reasons why I think these would be a good addition. 1, I want to switch to f/t, and these are necessary for the zombie dance. 2, I am getting ASF's soon and I hear that tweezers or hemostats are almost a must for when you need to move them.

With that said, which is preferred. Hemostats or tweezers, and do I want rubber tipped or not. My first though was that I would definitely want rubber tips, and probably hemostats. I was thinking that the locking feature of the hemostats would be good for the feeding, which would most likely take a while to get my bp used to, and it would not be too much of a hassle to have to "unclick" it when moving rodents around. Tweezers would probably be better for the rodents as it may be a bit quicker, but I would have to constantly hold it down, which I think would be especially annoying when it comes time to zombie dance.

Let me know what you all think.

I have both tweezers and hemostats but the hemos got really annoying when I was trying to feed cuz I feed f/t. Of course I'm still a wicked noob but I prefer the tweezers once I got used to them

Hemos are the best, no tweezers here. They are easyer to grip, and keep your hands safe.

Do you all use rubber tipped or non rubber tipped? Also, where did you buy your hemos/tweezers. I cant find any rubber tipped hemostats.

    Re: Shopping List-Advice

From other threads it sounded like rubber tipped was preferred, especially when moving, say, live ASF's. If this is not accurate and a lot of people use the normal hemos without a problem let me know.

    Re: Shopping List-Advice

My stats are not rubber tipped- don't think there is such a thing. Why would anyone want rubber tipped? More to clean and not needed.
