a couple questions about gettin a new snake

Hey i have my 3.5 yr old male in a 35g tank.
I'm interested in purchasing a new snake, something different from a pastel.
Can i put my new snake in with Toki?
Do i need a bigger tank?
I kinda want to steer from buying a new tank setup separate from Toki's cause then it starts gettin a bit too expensive.
Is there a process i have to put the snakes through before letting them bunk together?
Or do i have to avoid getting a new snake until i can afford another tank (bummer)?

And does anyone know where i can get a new snake off the internet for a decent price?

Never house snakes together. Gonna need a different enclosure.

    ...everyone needs a little R&R

and while i'm pimpin my own thread....
toki usually eats live rats, i kinda wanna switch to f/t.
I like to watch toki eat but i cant stomach watching that poor lil rat get OWNED. i used to own a few rats myself.
should i just suck it up or should i give f/t a try?

You would need another tank anyways to do QT in. If you cant afford a new enclosure for him, it would be greedy to buy a new snake IMO.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Or buy a $6 plastic tub, some flexwatt and a thermostat, as well as a digital thermometer, and you're set. You should already have things to make hides and water bowls out of and newspaper for bedding is free.

    Easy!

Re: a couple questions about gettin a new snake

I know some people say never house together but it's really just "beginner's shouldn't try this" talk.

There's been many debates of it so I don't want one to start here. There's a nice one on it in the Advanced Husbandry forum.

Even if you were a seasoned owner and wanted to try multiple housing, you'd still need to quarantine a new snake alone for a period before introducing it

Don't try multi-housing because of financial contraints. If you can't afford to do it right, just don't do it.
