Exclamation The masochism continues, race number 2

Yes, this is why laziness doesn't pay. Triathlon number 2 commences tomorrow morning (in the 100 degree heat) and I have been a lazy, unrepentant wanker about keeping to my training schedule. Send good thoughts my way so I don't get trashed out completely, or if I do, I at least pray I can claim heatstroke as an excuse. Nothing too over the top, just some tremors and a fainting episode or two......... Last place is never pretty.

I'll post pics when I get home in the PM. This will be the first race with my rockin pink bike makin its debut.......

    Sheesh,
    Kat

Re: The masochism continues, race number 2

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Ended up third after what may be the worst planned race I've ever run.

I lied. It was not 100 degrees, it was 103 and there was no shade to be found on the course at all (no water either, which made for a REAL fun run). My arms are so sunburned, although it was kind of fun to watch people faint from the heat (no one died, so I can say that).

This is me pre-race with one of my cheerleaders (who ate my post race pb and j.

This is the trio that did the full course (we had a few girls do the relay). I'm on the left, of course.

This is lake ming. If you squint, you can see a little yellow buoy out in the lake. Squint even harder and you can see that there is another little yellow buoy behind that. The swim was not fun.

This is the line up before the gun goes off for our heat (there were 6 total).....

    swimmin

stripping and putting on cycle gear in T1

    Running out of transition

    The first hill

Back in transition after the ride, getting ready to run and joking with my trainer (who, yes, is pregnant, and still did the run portion of the relay) She was busy yelling at me to get going already

Did I mention it was 103?? I BAKED on the run. It was the hottest I have ever been.

    Coming back in

Not my best time, at all. fairly sad actually.

And after the finish line, straight to the lake to cool off

Fun fun stuff. Not a race I'll be doing again next year unless the weather is 30 degrees cooler.

What did YOU do with your saturday??

    Cheers,
    Kat

I ran out and did a bunch of shopping. Congrats on third. Is it part of the race rules that you write your number on your arm?

How long is the distance? I'm not too far away from Madison, and I know they run the Ironman regionals up there.
