hi im jamie, and i have become interested in breeding ball pythons. i dont expect to make myself rich on it, but i want to do it for the enjoyment. and maybe a *little* extra money. now i dont want to jump into it and buy my snakes right away, i would prefer to have all the equipment that i need, and money put away for vet bills and such. what i DO need to know is all the equipment that i need, and the setup that is used a majority of the time. and i have questions about racks. i have read that racks are good for permanent housing because the snake feels more secure, but others feel that this is inhumane treatment of the animal. if i dont keep them in the racks permanently, what do i put them in? i have seen ralph davis' video, but i haven't seen any 30 gallon tanks for each animal (what i've read is recommended, per snake) and what is the best incubator, scale, heat cable, i can probably have my hubby build the racks for me if only for breeding. basically, i need a list of every piece of equipment i will need so i can get it before getting the animals. i am still finding info on the actual care and maintenance of these animals, and i dont plan on having more than six when i begin, five females and one male. i dont want to start too big too quickly. i already know what i think is a good amount about the animals, not everything or even close haha but i know ALOT more than i did when i had my first snake (her substrate was cedar chips.) i gave her to my friend sam, who is into herp stuff bigtime, and she is going to breed her next season i believe. i just would like a list of things to buy before the animals themselves. and i mean EVERYTHING.
thank you for the help and im sorry i have been so long winded!!!
jamie
