    wierd.

my bp started shedding yesterday, its not coming off the best but im gonna soak him today if its not all the way off when i get home.

this morning i went to refill his water bowl and he was out! at 7 this morning. he has never done this before. he wasnt just out of his hide but he was moving around. it made me think he was uncomfortable in his environment and was looking for a way out. waht do you think?

also, the temps. have been fluctuating quite a bit. i dont have the money to get the thermostat i want yet so i have had to turn his heat lamp on, off,on,off for the past few days to keep his temps at the right area and doing this has made his temps drop and raise continually.

idk what to do for a quick fix.

any ideas as to what i should do or whats up with my snake?

    thanks,

    ethan

...I don't know if turning his lamp off at night is a good idea. I don't know how cool your house gets at night, but if you are in Michigan and your weather is anything like ours....it is unusually cold...the evenings here are dippin in the low 40's....and most likely your house is cooler than your snake pleases in the evenings. This could lead to more stress. Also by taking the heat off of him, the air is probably too dry for him to shed, hence the fragmented shedding. I would go out and buy a nite-bulb. Shut his light off in the evening and allow the bulb to cool. Switch the bulb out to the night one and maybe give him a light mist. This will hopefully raise the humidity and help his shedding problem.

Just be careful not to soak him and then allow him to go to bed wet with no heat source....that's the makings of an RI.

    Good Luck!

As for the eating...that's no suprise he isn't eating if he is in shed. 90% of my snakes go off feed while they are in shed.

yea, i do live in michigan. He has a 75 watt infrared bulb which i put on the hot side. it gets really hot kinda fast so i have to shut it off for a little bit to cool it down. i dont keep it off over night though. i have a night time bulb but it only keeps the tank at about 83 degrees on the hot side. is this okay until next week when i get my thermostat? also, the humidity has been okay.(around 55%)

A quick and temporary fix for having to keep turning the light on and off is to go to Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, or another similar store and pick up a table-top lamp dimmer ($10). This will allow you to regulate how much current is going to the lamp, controlling the temp in the tank.

EDIT: Link to a dimmer from Lowes website - http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...-WH&lpage=none

A lamp dimmer would help for sure. You can also leave that night bulb on all day if it stays around 85 degrees instead of turning the infrared bulb on and off. When you can - a ranco or johnson thermostat for $50 (you will have to wire it your-self at that price or get a friend to - all you need is an extention cord) and a UTH on ebay is $20 after shipping.
