    I'm in love.....

    with my eggs!

I haven't messed with them since they laid other than to open the 'bator once a day to just make sure they were not dimpling, egg boxes not sweating, and temps were fine.

Today I said to myself "I NEED to see my eggs!". Took both egg boxes out and re-candled them (one clutch is six days old, one clutch is four days old). Still nice strong veins, no dimpling of the eggs, firm but nice give when touching them.

I just fell in love with them all over! Am I a goof or what? It's just such a sense of accomplishment to have spent this time lovingly raising my babies to the day that they would produce eggs, and I'm already in love with these babies who are nothing more than yolk right now.

Are you an egg lover too?

Robin - stop making me want to run out and buy a female - any female, and toss her in with my little guy (o.k I would NEVER do that but your given me the itch) I plan on waiting a good few years until I'm done college before I try to breed. I hope you get fat healthy babies, and all your hard work will pay off!

I'm hoping to breed a few out in a couple years and I don't think anything would be cooler than producing little ones and taking care of them from the time they drop til the time they come out all unsure of their surroundings/balance... I'm jealous. Can't wait to see pics. Congrats Robin!

You describe exactly what I did and how I felt when I did it, just don't want to talk about it......you know I have a reputation to maintain (can't let people think I am sensitive like that )

I must stare through the window of my incubator 20 times a day at my gecko eggs - can't wait until I have snake eggs to stare at too!!

    Re: I'm in love.....

I know the feeling, Robin. I could just spend hours gazing at the eggs thinking of the years it's been working to this point raising the parents and the years ahead with these new snakes yet to hatch. Of course, you have to pop them back into the bator but it's awful nice to do some egg bonding (gawd we are saps aren't we LOL).

Wish I could be there to see your face when that first head pops out of an egg. It's just simply a moment of magic.

    Re: I'm in love.....

Isn't it awesome?! I am waiting until tonight and I plan on candling mine here. I have not candled yet. But a glass-fronted incubator and semi-transparent eggboxes = a great thing for me! last year I was forever opening the styro cooler. Now I can just look in (and look-in I DO!)
