I used a cardboard box when I made our last rack, just rip the glued joints so it lays out flat, and cut to fit underneath a tub.

I usually use 2-3 normal CDs under each corner of the tub(or under each end if making a 6qt tub rack). Gives enough space for the flexwatt and the tubs to breathe, especially after the rack settles.

AHh yes i was going to ask how many cd's would work. Three is a good number to go with? Its an adult rack with 32Qt sterilites.

I have old panelling laying around from when I drywalled a room that had been previously panneled in my house. It works great!
