Do males get to 1500 grams commonly?

Or is our BP a female most likely? never popped, scared to do it ourselves... though i could tell the gf to do it for experience since she is studying to be a vet...

currently have had him for slightly over 2 years, and was a small little lad

weighed today, completely empty, 1504 grams...

Yes males do get over 1500 grams. I think some people on the site have females close if not over 4000 grams. If they are healthy eaters and don't go into breeding mode for months at a time in which a lot of ball pythons will stop eating it can happen fairly quickly. It also seemed that once one of our snakes went into breeding mode the majority of the rest have started to sense something as well and cut back on feeding. Each snake also grows at its own pace. One guy on the site was either attempting or looking into only breeding fast growers on the larger side for ball pythons in an attempt to see how genetic it is. Would be years before it could be proven, but it is an interesting prospect.

My oldest male is over 2500g he is 16 or 17 years old. He has lost a bit of weight. I try to feed him every week. But he doesnt eat every week. He will eat 2 times a month then he takes a few months off. The he will start again take a few meals then off again. Has anyone else noticed that their older balls. 10+ years old their eating seems to slow down. I feed all my balls every week. So its not that he isnt getting offered food. He has beed to the vet everything checked out good. When he was younger he would eat everything thrown at him. Every week never even stopped eating while breeding. I just checked and all my males other than the 07's are over 1500g. Some not much over. The rest of my males are no older than 03's

As babies you most likely wouldnt be able to tell the difference until 3-500g... between there the females with thicken out and be large all the way down... most my females also tend to put on a little more length during this time as well... this is a general rule of thumb and there are always exceptions.
