    Could I Be More Frustrated?!

    Argggg....
So a while back my little guy suffered a mild case of scale rot on his belly. I changed his then substrate of coco husk to paper towels and got him on Fortaz, as directed by my vet. After about 2 weeks he shed and was rid of the rot, I finished up the meds and hes been fine since. Today I took him out to give him the once over and change his water. Being a habit I inspected his belly to find 3-4 small brown spots on some belly scales and a little brown spot under his chin. Not Belly ROT AGAIN! I can't imagine it because nothing is wet or dirty. He has been on Aspen bedding for a few weeks now, humidity at a steady 50%, his water dish is a ceramic one ( like ralph has in all his videos ha), it can't be knocked over. So I have no idea how this could have happened. Could it be something else. I tried taking pictures but it doesn't show up because it's sooo small. I feel like such a bad owner...

You're not a bad owner! I am in constant fear of mouth rot returning to LD and any time I see him re-align his jaw or open his mouth I have a heart attack. I would ditch the aspen and keep him on newspaper (printed or un-printed) or something similar so you are sure you haven't missed any potty-spots. I use Scott Shop Towels and although they are blue, I can always see right away if LD has made a mess. I'd give your vet a call and see what s/he says then go from there. Don't stress out too much, you are doing all you can.

Yeah I already removed the aspen and put paper towels down. I'll give the vet a call.

Can snakes be more susceptible to belly rot if they have had it once already?
Dang, I'd for sure stick to newspaper or indented kraft paper or Missi's shop towels from now on!! I am so sorry to hear this..... bummer.
