    Black Belly Pics

    w.b

Here's 2 of my 3 c.h. girls. My third is less extreme in belly, pattern, color and neck break which are for me, the critical visual traits to keep in mind. I have spent a lot of time comparing/contrasting these two snakes with everthing else in my collection, and will for the sake of discussion assume these are, in fact -- Black Bellies.

I believe the Black Bellys' Belly differs from a normal with some/many black belly scales. It's as though the 2 row side belly scale pattern that you find on most morphs and normals was magically sucked to the dead-center of the underbelly. Also, their pattern is "melted" and shows no true consistency from one side to the other, as well as having no alien heads. They do have only a few random 1-6 scale markings. When I look at these girls, I can see that Yellow Jacket (great name!) trying to get out!!!

I have a couple of posts on kingsnake forum that will fill in some other info about these 2 girls and what LITTLE I know about Black Bellies. They are a mystery to most ball keepers I have found. Had to put the Bee pic breeding one of the girls. He was a late to the party this season, but has become a solid lock-up artist after his slow start!

Wow, I am liking these Black Bellys, I might have missed it previously mentioned but has anyone proved theirs out yet, or has anyone gotten theirs up to breeding size yet?

    Re: Black Belly Pics

Between this thread and the couple from yesterday on kingsnake, many of your ?'s will be answered. I would add that Ian has proven the Black Belly and Yellow Jacket(Pastel/Black Belly). I have heard through a couple friends in the know that he is breeding for the super this season. He hasn't released many of them. That's why no one seems to know about them. I'm not sure whether he has tried any other crosses. He is kind of private about some of what he does -- which I respect. There are a couple of pretty cool snakes/clutches I have managed to keep under wraps -- so far.

Black Bellies as a base morph should carry a ton of value. After all, if you can make a Y. Jacket with the least expensive base morph (Pastel), then I would think that the other half of the genetic code should carry the lions share of the combo value?

My three girls are 1200-1350 grams and breeding, 2 are due to lay in the next two weeks. The other is still breeding my Bee and looks like she is moving toward ovulation. Should be interesting!!!

Thats because, someone proves it out then those in "the know" get them first reproduce them, for a while, then sell them all at once (still rare at this point, but when they become known )... Then the next group of breeders will produce a bunch and all sell at once. (still rare but around) and on and on...

The Black Bellies are brand new and only a very few people have proven ones and even fewer have Yellow Jackets (only 3 including the one i have). There are some unproven blackbellies floating around out there, time will tell!
