    Humidity!

    Hello,
I have a 20 gallon long tank and it has a UTH and a night time bulb the temps are like 90.4F on the hot side and 82.3F on the cool side. I guess I have it pretty good as far as temps go! Now my other problem is I can't get the humidity to go any higher than 30% does NE1 have any ideas how I can make that go higher and well pretty much stay like that?

I was having problems too, so I bought a larger water dish (holds about 15 oz) and started putting books on top of my screen top to keep the humidity from escaping. Now it's between 55%-60% all the time.

Using books as a humidity barrier is not going to be good for the books. If they are books you don't care about, then I guess if it works...

Also, the important part about the water dish is not how much water it holds, but how much surface area it has.

Put a wet towel over 3/4's of the screen. Wash it every week to prevent bacteria from growing on it.

    Re: Humidity!

covering the screen top with foil is also a good idea. Like starmom said read the thread she posted very good information.

    Re: Humidity!

I have a 20 gallon long tank also and putting damp towels worked but I didn't like too much so...
I got this (I got the 30 gal one, you can use any pump that has enough power for your tank size) and this and now I have a constant humidity, it's at 58% right now.
I put foil on top of the tank leaving a large enough hole for my red light and air.
