Re: Not only my snake loves mice...

I don't have a picture of it. But I was getting ready to feed my BP, my friend was holding my snake in one hand and the mouse in the other by the tail. My mutant Alien Beast dog jumped up and engulfed the mouse in her mouth, my friend hit her on the head and she dropped the mouse. We then spent the next 10 minutes looking for the mouse... : So dogs like mice too.

Not cool. Quit showing off in front of your friend.

Will stop there. otherwise it will get very ugly, very quick.

Cute kittie My cat is a great mouser when it comes to native mice making homes in the house. But he is afraid of the rats that I feed my snakes. He will not even go enar them in the laundry room where I breed them! If I have one in a holding container for snake-feeding, Inky (cat) runs away.. little weirdo.

Just make sure to pre-scent before letting Sylvester to try and eat. Also, make sure to wait 2 days after feeding before handling again.

Our cat goes nuts when we pre-scent the tanks on feeding day. He just doesn't know what to do with himself.

i put 2 tanks on the ground for our manx cat. she'll go crazy doing summersalts and trying to swat the mice. i gave her an adult mouse one day and she wouldnt kill it but just played with it. didnt notice any blood so i threw him back in the tank and fed him to the snake the next day

DSGB- My last cat was the same way! My new one hasn't figured out how to get up on the shelf to get at the mouse yet though! I hope it's a long time before she can jump that high!

On a side note, just because a mouse is destined to be snake food, that doesn't make it okay to let your other pets play with them. And definitely not a good idea to hold it in one hand and the snake in the other.

Just to put things straight... I'm sorry if I didn't elaborate enough on the dog try's to eat mouse incident.

    - It was not intentional.

    - It was a very young BP, so rather small. Not able to reach the mouse at all.

    - My dog took it upon herself to rid my friend of the mouse.

    - I am not cruel, I wouldn't let my dog toy with a mouse, even if it was destine to be food.

I'm typically not this defensive, but it would be nice if you would get clarification before leaving remarks like that.

If you don't want people jumping on you, then try to make your posts more clear.
It isnt other peoples fault that you said something wrong.

You still do not hold even a young bp (doesnt make a difference if small or large) while you feed it.
