    Talking Info from the Vet

Well, Renji and Winston both went to the vet today for scale rot, and i know there were a few people who wanted an update afterward, so..

The vet said to expect a full recovery, even though Renji's was pretty severe. Both snakes are getting daily betadine baths and shots of antibiotics every 3 days. Renji is going to get her first bath here in a few minutes, once i'm done posting . Overall, he said I had nothing to worry about and to come back in a few weeks for a check-up.

What a weight off my shoulders! I was so worried; until a day or two ago I didn't even know what was wrong with my babies! So, MUCH progress has been made. Thanks again for everyone's help/info and kind wishes!

Remember the golden rule, put the snakes in a bath of clean water before you let them soak in any medicinal ones. They like to drink when soaking. Glad to hear!

    Re: Info from the Vet

I felt so bad giving Renji her betadine bath today; I could tell that the affected area was very tender . However, the vet said to gently rub the betadine bath solution on the worst area, so it had to be done I guess; i just hate hurting my baby. And i'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that i'm going to be giving my snakes their shots myself..

    Re: Info from the Vet

Sorry for missing something, but are they rescues that came to you with scale rot, or is there some husbandry changes w/the bedding that needs to be done to prevent it in the future??

But VERY glad to hear that they're getting the vet and cleaning/ medical care they need so that they heal
