    Question Daytime Feeding?

Can I feed my ball during the day or is it best to wait until night time?

ask you bp.. my male will eat anytime any place just let him at the rat and my normal has her moments when she wants to eat during the day and others when she doesnt wanna be bugged till nite time (go figure she is a female)

some people will say its better to feed at nite but you gotta pay attention to when your snake wants to eat not the clock

    Re: Daytime Feeding?

My rescue will eat whenever, lights on/lights off, hides/no hides, it doesn't matter. This is good because I never actually see him "hunt" like I do my other BP, so I don't really know when he wants his food.

My other BP will hunt every 4 days or so, sticking just his head out of a hide or fake plant. He usually starts hunting after 9pm so I know when to feed him. It really is just how 771subliminal said it though, ask your BP because its all up to the individual snake.

    Re: Daytime Feeding?

Well, i thawed out his dinner and set it on top of the screen with a small bowl covering it to allow the scent to drift down into the enclosure. within 30 minutes he was half upside-down trying to get at his mice! i warmed up the first one nicely with the hair dryer, but he kind of grabbed the side of its neck and is now eating it butt first, will this cause any problems?

    Re: Daytime Feeding?

I'm not really sure about it causing problems, but I know to help prevent it from happening focus on warming up the head more than the body. This will give them a good heat signature of where to start eating.

yeah i did take time heating the head up more than the rest of the body, it might have just been the way he grabbed it from the tongs. I gave him a few minutes after finishing down the first one before offering the second, and he took it with no problems

    Re: Daytime Feeding?

He just took his 3rd and final mouse for this week. It seemed like each time after the first mouse he responded faster and stronger than before. By the third mouse it only took him a few seconds to strike! I am so pleased

Good to hear! If your bp eats the prey rear first, it shouldn't cause any problems but it is a little more awkward for him/her to swallow. I did notice that with hoppers or mice, the overall stiffness of the legs was not enough to make eating backward difficult, but with rats, my bp would have quite a bit of trouble if he ate them backward.

    Re: Daytime Feeding?

Yeah as of now I'm giving him hoppers, last week I gave him 2 and decided to up it to 3 this week. The adult mice still look a little too big for him.
