Amazing conversion story!!!!!!!!!! Live to F/T

OK, I have to share this amazing story.

Maybe something is to be said for husbandry. I ordered two het pieds from two diff sources. 1.0 het pied from Alex Hue Reptiles and he was feeding on F/T. I got him on tuesday April 15, 2008.
I ordered 0.1 Het Pied female from Frank ant Cold Blooded Novelties (Reptile Basics) and received her on April 16, 2008 and she was bred, never handeled and fed live. Both were last fed on thursday of the week prior to my receiving the shipments. I set up their respective homes prior to their arrivals (as close to perfect as possible in my case) and when they arrived they wen directly in. It is now firday, well sat early morning, I am drinking beer tonight. I decided to feed both tonight to see how each would take it.

Maybe I should give a timeline and actions to this point. (pausing for another swig)

The male was very active the first day, looking around and mapping out the place. Day 2: He settled in a hide and has been moving between the two hides since. Seems very relaxed and happy.

The female was very reclusive and scared, she stayed in the spot I placed her in for 1.5 days.

Thursday, both were in hides in the morning, and out that night. They seemed to be hunting (tounges flicking and smelling around).

Friday night I tried feeding the male by dropping a F/T weaned rat in. He flicked it and moved away. I picked it up with the tongs and shook it. Instant strike and wrap, bingo, first feeding in my posession.

Same night, I got a F/T rat out for the female, held it with the hemestats, shook....nothing. She smelled but looked scared. She coiled up but still smelled. I placed it in the middle of her coil. Two min later she began to swallow it. Mind you she has never eaten F/T. It was the slowest consuming I have ever seen. But also the fastest conversion from live to F/T I have ever witnessed.

    NOTE!!!

The rats were thawed and placed on a heater until they read 105 degrees F with a laser gun. I think this may have played a part in the eating response.

I am so stupid! I have had a IR temp gun for too long not to check if the rats were hot enough. May be why my luck with frozen has been so terrible.

Awesome! Its always good to hear a success story. Question though, why did you heat the f/t to 105? I'd be afriad it would start to cook at the temp, but I could be wrong.
