We asked the team at ball-pythons.net the following questions.

1. Who owns and runs the forum?

The admins (those names you see in red while online) own and run the forum as a team. There are four of us: JLC, iceman25, mlededee, and rabernet (Judy, Raj, Emily and Robin respectively). The responsibility of keeping the site running smoothly is also shared by our awesome mod team (those names you see in green while online)!

2. How long has the forum been running?

Since August of '03.

3. In one word, what best describes the site?

Informative!

4. What reptiles & Exotics does the forum cater for?

As our name would indicate, our most popular reptile is Ball Pythons. We also have a lot of interest in Boas, Geckos, various Lizards, Torts and Turtles, Tarantulas and many other Snakes. We're always striving to expand the variety of interest and information we offer.

5. What age group is the forum aimed at?

ALL ages! We have members ranging in age from 10 to 60-something! Which is why our Family Friendly policies are so important to us.

6. What made you create the forum?

We can't take credit for the creation of the site. The original Admin Team bought the site from its creator in the summer of '04. Since then, the Admin Team has gone through some changes, but its original core remains the same.

7. What is your favorite all time thread or board on ballpythons.net?

Probably each of us could come up with a different "favorite"...and that may even change on a daily or weekly basis. There's just too much GREAT stuff throughout the entire site to have a favorite!

8. Is there helpful information for newbies to the reptile world?

Tons! It may seem daunting to newbies at first because there is SO much stuff. But the community is always happy to answer even the most basic questions for new people who find themselves lost in the library, so to speak.

9. How long have you been keeping reptiles?

The Admin Team has a combined total of twenty years of keeping reptiles.

10. What do you think of the reptile keeping community as a whole?

The "politics" that go on among the "big names" in the biz can get frustrating. But for the general "reptile keeping community"...it's a great bunch of people! People who keep reptiles usually have a great deal of love and respect for the animal kingdom as a whole. And the range of people we meet is amazing! Children to grandparents! Bikers to homemakers! Liberals and conservatives. People of all religions and beliefs and backgrounds! There honestly is no "stereotypical" reptile keeper.

11. Please tell us about any special features you have on the forum?
Our most precious resource and special feature is the community itself, everyone from beginners to well-known breeders. So many people willing to step up and take the time to help out newbies with step-by-step instructions or to hold someone's hand through a time of crisis.

Almost all the different forums feature topical FAQ's and other "stickied" threads for valuable information at your fingertips. There's a live chat feature at the bottom of the Forum Index page. Free gallery space! Our monthly contests are always popular. And we're always looking for new features to offer our members, as well as improved organization of all the great information we offer.

12. Anything else you`d like to add?

No single forum will be perfect for everyone. At any given time, there's always someone who is unhappy with some facet of Ball-Pythons.net. But no matter what, we strive to offer the most welcoming and friendly site to herpers of all experience levels. We work hard and build our Staff with the goal of maintaining that atmosphere and being as fair and just as is humanly possible. And when we find a thread or recieve a PM from someone who tells how they learned to properly care for their animal thanks to the great folks at BP.net....it makes it all worth it!

I find Ball-Pythons.net to be one of the best places on the net for information about not just ball pythons but any species.
The staff are always helpful and knowlegable and the members are some of the best out there.
i feel it is a place that the newbie or the expert will still learn somthing new or be able to help another in some way.
Overall it is a fun and friendly community that i am more than happy to contribute to.
