    First shed!

Hi y'all, newbie here. I acquired my first BP (Maverick) several weeks ago, and although I have quite a bit of experience caring for a wide variety of pets, this is my first snake. He/She is a CB juvenile, not quite 2 ft.--I haven't gotten a scale yet so not sure about the weight.

I was late to work today because as I was doing my morning check on my animals I noticed Mav was being pretty active, on top of his hide and rubbing his nose against the glass. I looked closer and saw a little bit of skin flaking up at the tip of his nose. I had been concerned Monday night after he refused his meal but the next day I saw that his eyes were opaque and his coloring seemed dull and I realized he was about to shed so I'm assuming/hoping thats why he didn't eat earlier this week.

Anyway, I ended up watching for 1/2 an hour this morning as he shed his skin--I'm so excited I got to see it! Pretty awesome to watch. It didn't come off in one perfect piece--it tore in several pieces along the way--but it all came off as far as I could tell. I didn't see any pieces of skin remaining which I know can be a concern.

Since he didn't eat this week would it be ok to offer him a mouse tonight or this weekend or should I wait until Monday? Does it matter?

I think you'll be fine to offer food whenever you want. As long as it has been a couple days since the last attempt, I bet she'll take it now that she's done shedding...
