    Inexpensive Ball Rack

I bought a few of these the other day after seeing a friend of mine use them; they are $25.00 a piece at the The Container Store. Just drill a 5/16 whole in front of the drawer and use a piece of dowel to keep it locked and you won't get escaped ball pythons, then 3 or 4 inch flex for belly heat. Or run 11 inch flex down the sides for radiant side heat. There is a strap that will lock the bins together. If you don't have the $2700 for a Freedom Breeder then these come in very handy and for a 30 bin rack you’re talking under $800.00 with heat. Put a Helix to it for safety and your set for under a grand. I have Females that are 1000 grams and above in them I wouldn't put anything less than 800 grams in them unless you modify it a bit more the smaller ones can get into the pocket but so far not out of the rack.

Here is the link to purchase them... I am very happy with these so far and have figured out a couple of mods so I can keep smaller snakes in them...

These look pretty cool. I'm going to go have to check them out in person. Looks like they'd make a nice QT rack as well.

They work great and don't cost an arm and a leg... I'm also going to keep dwarf retics in them after another modification is done.

they are starting to sell these things all over the place.... my concern is that they seem a bit flimsy. seems like sooner or later the ball would be able to get it open.

Could you post some picks of your setup? I would like to see how you have the flexwatt heat tape attached to the tubs.

    Re: Inexpensive Ball Rack

You guys are thinking of the walmart ones, these are not even close the ones you can buy there. These can be found at the container store or sometimes linens and things, I will take pics but it's a very simple set up. I taped the flex what on top of the bottom bin and then set the next bin on top.

I am very happy with the set up and it has saved me a lot of money, if you order one over the net you will clearly see that it is not flimsy in the least. These bins work very well for medium to large BP's.

    Re: Inexpensive Ball Rack

Below you can see that these are not flimsy and keep the bin enclosed.. it's a nice inexpensive way to keep Bp's and other snakes.

06 female lesser 1100 grams in the bin

PS. That is a chunk un cut aspen in the little bin not a mess and I use kaytee softsorb and NP in the other bins....
