I have some questions!
Hi, it was recently my birthday, and I've been thinking of getting myself either some type of carpet python or a diamond x carpet with the money I received.
I've read some articles about both, and the care-sheet here. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the big differences between carpet pythons and diamond pythons, and if anyone knows any reliable breeders that sell either. Also, what types of cages do you guys keep adults in? I keep all my boas/pythons in the 4x2 cages from RBI, but I'm wondering if I would need a cage with more arboreal space, or if this space doesn't matter for the snake in captivity. Please let me know if you have any good info on either of these types of snakes! Or if you have some pictures of your adults you could share!
I would prefer a diamond x carpet because the ones I have seen online are absolutely stunning, but haven't seen as many around as regular types of carpet pythons, so I still have a lot of looking to do!

Re: I have some questions!
well i don't want to give advice on diamonds, because i don't keep any, but i can tell you that a diamond cross is going to be just like any other carpet. if anything, they will be hardier than either a pure carpet or a diamond....'hybrid vigor'.

Pure diamonds will run you close to $1000.
There are pure coastals and other carpets out there. You just have to look.
A 4 x 2 cage should work fine for an adult.

Re: I have some questions!
I know how much pure diamonds are, I actually prefer the way the diamond x carpets I've seen look in comparison to a pure diamond, so thats what I'm looking for, just having a hard time finding some that don't say "SOLD" under the picture
I'm glad to hear the cages I use would work out and that the hybrid will be like a carpet. I've never kept a carpet, but I have heard good things about them, I'll keep looking around and if anyone knows of good breeder selling any let me know!

i have a 6 carpet/coastal cross he is 6 years old, 7 feet and bad ass. i think you should get one, and yes, the jungle/diamond crosses are unbelievable. mine's prettier though haha...get one, people say they are nippy, but mine has never tried to bite. ever. great eater too.

well if you aren't in a huge hurry, i'm sure they will all have their 08 hatchlings available soon.. naturally there aren't a ton of 07 animals left. alternatively you can email them and see if they have any holdbacks that they'd be willing to let go. most breeders keep several back and list them for sale later after they see which ones are turning out the best.
